The Diploma of Salon Management covers the skills and knowledge you need to progress your career to managing a salon or operate your own salon. The salon management skills in the course focus on personal services including airdressing or barber shops, nails and beauty salons, massage clinics and spas. Salon managers are responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operation of the business, including safety supervision, and planning, monitoring and avaluating the work of staff. Customer service is covered in the course as this is an essential part of a salon manager’s role.

The course is 4 terms for 36 weeks. The course is timetabled for 20 hours per week.
Classroom learning – There is 20 hours face-to-face learning in the classroom per week supported with PowerPoints. Classroom learning includes lectures supported by presentations plus visual topic content, with practice time and group and oral work. Your materials are provided either in print or digital copy that can be accessed as part of the course. There is an extra cost for the textbook, please refer to the fees table.
Online learning – There is 4 hours study online per week. Online learning follows the units you are studying in class and includes reading topics, research and extra materials.

Academic Calendar
Diploma of Salon Management has has a rolling intake so students can begin their study as soon as possible. Students will complete the introductory unit SHBXWHS002 Provide a safe work environment and then complete the remainder of the units according to the timetable to successfully complete the remaining units for the Diploma of Salon Management.
Students are required to complete a range of tasks as part of the assessment requirements for each unit. To perform at your best, you will need to work on the assessments outside of class time. Assessments methods may include:
AMBI recognises certificates and statement of attainment issued by other registered training organisation and the skills and knowledge that students may have gained through any previous studies and at workplace and life experiences. RPL and credit transfer can be applied for at the time of enrolment or during orientation. A fee is payable for assessing your RPL status.
Upon successful completion of all the required units of this course, you will receive a nationally recognised qualification in SHB50216 Diploma of Salon Management. Students who do not complete all required units may be eligible for a Statement of Attainment in partial completion of a SHB50216 Diploma of Salon Management.
The Australian Massage and Beauty Institute is located at 86 Keppel St, Bathurst NSW 2795 Australia. Our facilities include classrooms, practical rooms, student clinic, printing and photocopying facility and a student common area. The college is Wi-Fi enabled and students can bring their own laptop computer or mobile device. Students wear the college uniform which is black trousers, black closed shoes and the AMBI T-shirt. Students may be required to wear a salon uniform on work placement.
